What's On My Face Today

  • Wet'n'Wild MegaCushion Color Corrector in Green - Lately I've been seeing a little redness on my chin and around my nose. I wanted a corrector that was sheer, not too pigmented, and this fits the bill - the cushion lets me apply as little or as much as I want, and the texture is undetectable under my foundation. I like it.
  • Guerlain Lingerie de Peau BB Cream in 01 Light
  • Kat Von D Lock-It Concealer Creme in Light 1 - I've had some unusually severe breakouts this past week, so I'm forgoing my regular cream concealer for this lighter but sturdier one. Despite being called a 'Creme', it's actually more liquid than what I usually use, so it doesn't add much texture to what I'm trying to cover. The doe foot applicator helps me be more precise in my application, and once this concealer sets it doesn't budge, so I don't have to worry about my red marks reappearing in the middle of the day.
  • Givenchy Prisme Libre Loose Powder in Mousseline Pastel
  • Marc Jacobs Beauty Air Blush Soft Glow Duo in 500 Lush & Libido
  • MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Painterly (eyelid primer)
  • Fenty Beauty Killawatt Foil Freestyle Highlighter Duo in 7daywknd/ Poolside - I've been using this palette as an eyeshadow duo for the past few days. The colors are so gorgeous, and they last all day without fading or moving. Today I'm just wearing the pink color - 7daywknd - on my lid.
  • Benefit Cosmetics Brow Zings Tame & Shape Kit in 6 Deep - This kit has a wax for shaping and a powder for darkening, each with their own tiny application brushes. The wax is tinted, so I often find that that's enough. I do have one brow that's slightly shorter than the other, so when I want to fill in some of the empty space I definitely use the wax with little strokes of powder on top. Once it sets, it holds all day - it's the best brow product I have for surviving sweaty summer days. This is one of my favorite kits for travel, too. I've occasionally had liquid brow mascaras separate on me when I fly - I suspect it has something to do with extreme temperatures at elevation? But with the solid wax and powder in this kit, I don't have that issue.
  • Buxom PowerPlump Lip Balm in Flushed

What's On My Face Today

I picked up the blush while I was in Chicago last month. I was there for a conference so I was staying downtown, at a hotel on Michigan Avenue. The Walgreens there had one of those beauty departments that looked like it belonged in a department store, so I couldn't resist poking around. I'd never heard of the Girlactik brand before - it looks like they're an L.A. brand starting to get some traction at stores around the United States. I'll be keeping an eye out for more of their products because I love this blush.

The color looks fairly muted in the pan, but it's a bright pink on the skin. I tend to look for cool, bright pinks because of the way blush colors oxidize on me. The experience differs depending on what foundation/powder I'm wearing, but in general anything with a hint of a warm tone to it goes orange by day's end. You can see from the swatch that the pink looks a lot more natural once it's blended, and it stays rosy on me for at least eight hours. The texture is smooth and it blends so beautifully.

Unfortunately it looks like the shade I have, 'Havana', isn't available through their web site anymore. I might give 'Milan' a try next.

And this is the reason I can't swatch on my inner wrist
